Foods To Put In Your Thermos

We`re all familiar with the idea of taking your tea or coffee to work in a thermos, but did you know that you can keep food warm in that handy container, as well? It`s nice to have a hot meal ready to go, even if you`ve been hard at work all morning and your thermos can help you do just that.

1. Soup. This one is pretty obvious, since it`s liquid. However, it`s worth mentioning because you can literally have a different soup every day for a month and never repeat! From minestrone to chicken noodle and cheddar chowder, you can enjoy delicious hot meals poured right out of your thermos.

2. Pasta. If you`ve ever had a hankering for ravioli at your noon break, this is a great way to satisfy it. You`ll find that this works best with a wide mouth thermos, as do most foods. When you cook your pasta, make sure you cook it to just over half done. That means, if you bite a piece of spaghetti in half, it should still have a white center. Other pastas should still be chewy. Pour the drained pasta into your thermos, add your favorite topping or sauce and seal it up.

3. Veggies. Cold, boiled vegetables are just nasty in most cases, but it doesn`t have to be that way. Pour them into your thermos, add a dab of butter and some salt and let them stay there until you`re ready to eat your steaming hot, delicious vegetables.

4. Pudding. If you don`t relish the thought of having lukewarm pudding in your Tupperware at noon, then try putting the cold pudding into your thermos in the morning. It will stay nice and cool until you`re ready to treat yourself.

5. Chili. Not technically a soup, this dish tends to taste best when hot, so put it in your thermos and pack a few slices of cornbread to enjoy with it. Your chili will still be piping hot when you`re ready to sit down to lunch at the office.

You can make it easier on yourself by purchasing a wide mouth thermos that will let you easily put food in and dump it back out. A long handled spoon is also very useful for getting the last bits of food out of the bottom of the thermos. And with that, you`re ready to start eating great, healthy meals at work.

Culinary School Internship Programs

Culinary school internship programs are a vital part of the education and training process as you work towards a career as a chef or as any other type of culinary professional. During your internship you will not only improve and refine your skills in the kitchen, you will also make contacts in the culinary industry and learn how the restaurant business works. Your school may require a three-month or six-month internship, in which case you must find a program that fulfills the school’s requirements. Even if your culinary school doesn’t require an internship, though, it is so beneficial that you’d be better off doing it anyway.

There are culinary school internship programs in bakeries, catering businesses, country clubs, food service companies, pastry shops, resorts and, of course, restaurants. The internship you choose should reflect the specific career you want to go into. This temporary and probably unpaid position could potentially lead to a job offer once you’re done with school, so you should definitely choose a place where you would actually want to work.

The first step to getting into a good culinary school internship program is learning about your school’s criteria and what types of programs they will consider for academic credit. You may need to be in good academic standing to qualify for an internship, so make sure you’re keeping up your grades. There may also be prerequisite courses you will need to have taken before you can do an internship through your school, so make sure you have those classes and exams out of the way first.

Before you go any further, at this point it would be a good idea to talk with a career services counselor at your school. Give the counselor a copy of your rsum and tell him or her about your goals; he or she should be able to advise you on a suitable business or restaurant where you can apply for an internship. Then you can begin the process of applying and interviewing for internships. Make the most of this valuable experience-it could be the first real step from school to your dream career.

For a reference, this is a list of nutritional needs and why your body must have them to conceive:

1. Water. In every diet water is important, and it is the number one item in foods to help conception because dehydration will actually prevent conception. Your body loses about one gallon of fluids every day. Drink at least eight large glasses of water every day. 2. Folic acid. Folic acid is a B vitamin and is important in the production of red blood cells. Also taking folic acid before you get pregnant reduces the risk of neural-tube defects, such as spina bifida. Leafy green vegetables are a good source of folic acid: spinach and broccoli are foods to help you conceive.

3. Vegetables and fruits high in Vitamin C. The foods to help conceive are oranges, papaya, and kiwi. Experts believe that this vitamin may increase the amount of water in the cervical mucus and help fight infections.

Benefits of Working in the Fast Food Industry

Yes, I have worked in the fast food industry when I was way younger and let’s just say that… it’s the next best thing to slavery. No, I am kidding but there are many things that you can really learn when you work in the fast food industry and they all help you discover things about people, business, life and even yourself. I think everyone should work behind a fast food counter at least once in their life.

So, this is what being paid peanuts feel like

Oh… this is what it is like working from ground up. I don’t think it is a fact that is so glaringly apparent only in this country because generally speaking, fast food restaurants are known to hire part-timers or students or school leavers, hence, the low pay but frankly, it is a priceless (pardon the pun) experience because you will then know what it feels like to stand there the entire day and earn hardly enough pocket money for two meals.

I am totally sending my kids to work at a fast food restaurant.

Teamwork

Working in a fast food restaurant teaches you about teamwork, teamwork, teamwork, TEAMWORK. If someone in the back kitchen doesn’t defrost the chicken quick enough or someone stupidly forgets to heat up the gravy, everyone suffers. In essence, you come to work and you will feel the responsibility of reminding your co-workers about things that they might forget. If one person is too busy, the others may have to chip in.

Working in such an environment will help you learn about being responsible as a whole, not just as a person. One person fouls up, everyone gets it. This experience will help you learn to work in just about ANY environment in the future, be it a large IT firm or when you are running your own clothing retail outlet.

Managing people

Nothing teaches this better than being behind the counter… be it the cashier’s counter or the complaints counter. Managers need to learn how to motivate and organize tasks and people based on their capabilities and commitment while cashiers need to smile and be pleasant during their worst moments… like after their boyfriends just dumped them. Got dumped? There are customers to be served, serve them.

And of course, it doesn’t help during those moments that an irate and irrational customer walks up to the counter and you know they are dead wrong and yet they insist on being right and society demands that they are.

The speed of light

When it comes to fast food, people are impatient and you need to keep up to speed… like only ALL THE TIME. Need I say more?

So, yeah… working in the fast food industry sure has benefits.

Break ups and our relationship with food

Anyone who has been through a break up knows that it can directly affect how and what we eat. The stress of the break up gives you that horrible anxiety feeling in your stomach, the same sort of feeling that you have when you’re nervous about out something. It can either make you not want to eat at all, or comfort eat, so much you end up gaining pounds. We all know about the curse of the comfort foods, when you’re feeling down we turn to the sugary treats like ice cream, chocolate milk shakes etc. But why? There are a couple of things you can do to combat these feelings for example, don’t go shopping for food when you are feeling low in mood as you are likely to let your cravings rule your food choices or try writing down your daily intake for a week, to get a better idea of what you are consuming.
